Brief information
Medical Informatics Research Centre (MIRC), a division
of the Program Systems Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, was
established in December 1994.
Since then, MIRC has been focusing on the various issues and aspects of
health care information management. Several years of research and
development brought into being INTERIN Technology – a complex of
software tools, technological solutions and techniques for developing
health care information systems.
A number of successful implementations of INTERIN Technology already
exist.
The following research carried out by the Centre were the basis for the
technology:
- Information technologies for patient care management.
- Modelling the activities of health care enterprises and complexes.
- Conceptual models of the patient's total medical record using
special domain representation methods.
- Conception of a unified health care service space. Management of the
financial aspects of care in health care information systems.
- Conception of a unified health care information space of a large
corporation or region.
- Conception of health care system integration with other information
systems.
- Principles and methods involved in developing information object
tools – an object extension of the relational database. Working out
the principles and studying the methods of information object dynamic
construction.
- Health care information representation mechanisms based on concepts
and document models (HL-X technology).
- Mechanisms supporting multiple structures of health care
institutions. Study of mechanisms supporting multiple structures of
health care institutions.
- Issues related to the use of patient's magnetic cards in
agency-level (regional) health care.
- Study of different approaches to developing models of care.
- Conceptual models of health care information visualization. "Botkin's
chart" as an integral visualization of patient's vital signs and
pathophysiologic parameters during the care process.
- Basic principles of care quality examination.
In 2004, Interin PROMIS, a model information management system of a health
care institution, was released. This product generalizes the ten years of
system development experience and relies on INTERIN technological
solutions. Interin PROMIS holds a Ministry of Health Certificate that
approves the use of the system in the health care institutions of the
Russian Federation.
Some of the health care information systems developed in MIRC were awarded
the All-Russian Exhibition Centre diplomas.
